My name is Matthew and I am a father of two teenagers. One of the two has started drinking heavily, coming back home from parties drunk almost every evening of the week.
Naturally I am very worried about this - having had an father that was an alocholic I know too well how serious a problem alcohol abuse is. That is why I created this page, hoping to gather some information for parents that are facing the same problems.
During the past years, there was only a low percentage of teenage drinking. It’s because parents would not allow their teens to drink wine or beer at meals.
The best way to teach teens to stop drinking is for parents to set as good examples. Before doing anything in front of your children, you must think if it’s the right thing to do. Teens that see their parents drink liquor will think that it is fine, so they will also imitate it. Alcohol use among teens is usually found in private schools. It’s because most students who study in these schools are wealthy. They have the money to buy liquor and sometimes drinking is a result of loneliness, family problems or academic pressure.
Plenty of mothers have no knowledge that their children are drinking. Sometimes parents underestimate their sons and daughters. Teens who are excessive drinkers think that a couple a drinks during a party will not hurt them. They think that party is fun and alcohol use is part of the fun. Excessive drinking can affect a person’s behavior and health. Parents should be vigilant when their teenagers are attending parties. They should discourage them from drinking. If he wants to attend a party, tell him that you are available to pick him up. Teens should know that they can rely on their parents. Make friends with your children.
Parents should discuss the dangerous effects of teenage drinking to their children. Tell them that alcohol use can ruin their lives. It can destroy relationships with friends and families. It can even control your life. Cite some examples and statistics to make it more real. People can be killed because of alcohol use. Once they know these things they can make the correct choices. Discouraging teenagers from drinking is something that parents should do because the future of their children is at stake.

Driving under the influence of liquor is very dangerous among teenagers. Most car accidents which are alcohol related mostly involve teenagers.
